Dear kids of the world,
His name is Jerry Jeff 'JJ' Walker. You might have heard of him. You may know him as the Caddilac Cowboy, the Gypsy Songman, Jacky Jack, The leader of the Lost Gonzos. You might not have heard of him. He writes the songs though. You know Mr. Bojangles? The song about the old wanderer that will dance for you so he can buy his booze? Walker wrote that song while he was in a drunk tank in New Orleans. You know my favorite party animal Jimmy Buffet? Him and Walker go back to their days in Key West when Jerry tought him how to party.
The man has a passion for the music. He writes songs that capture the life he has lead, which isn't your normal path to the top. He begged for pennies, he lived off the land, he bounced from town to town. He truly was a gypsy in the 60s and early 70s. Now he is living in Austin, with his own record label so he is free to record what and when he pleases so he can keep his music true to himself.
I didn't have a reason to write this other then wanting to share a legend with everyone.
